Why is prevention & reducing risk factors important?

Prevention is about helping people stay healthy, happy and independent for as long as possible. This means maximising wellbeing and reducing the chances of problems arising in the first place or avoiding problems escalating and, when they do, supporting people who do become unwell to manage this as effectively as possible. This includes enabling you to take greater control of your health and wellbeing.

Given the ongoing impact of the COVID pandemic including new variants of the original virus, there continues to be a real need for those who can, to either take better care of themselves through healthy living and gradually making positive lifestyle changes, or simply maintain good health and wellbeing. This will also help to avoid putting even more pressure on an already stretched health and care system.
